How to Download Twitter/X Videos on iPhone or iPad

What this guide covers

Download and save the video on iPhone or iPad

   Copy the post link in X

   Open the public post that contains the video, tap the Share icon, and choose Copy link. Copy the post URL rather than a profile, search page, or media-only link.

   Paste the link into DownXVideo

   Use the tool on this page, paste the link, and select Find MP4 options. DownXVideo sends the public post URL to its parser; it does not ask for X credentials or cookies.

   Choose an available quality

   Each result represents a direct MP4 made available by the source post. Choose the resolution that fits your needs. A higher option is shown only when the source provides it.

   Start the browser save flow

   Select Download when a same-site download is available. If the result says Open MP4, Safari may play the source file in a tab; use Share, Save to Files, or a long-press save action offered by your current Safari version.

   Find the file in Files

   Open Files, choose Browse, and open Downloads in iCloud Drive or On My iPhone, depending on your Safari download-location setting. Safari also shows a Downloads button near the address field after a download.

   Add the MP4 to Photos if needed

   Open the saved MP4 in Files, choose Share, and select Save Video when iOS offers that action. If Save Video is absent, keep the MP4 in Files or use another compatible app; available actions depend on the file and installed apps.

Where Safari puts the downloaded video

A normal browser download goes to Files, not directly to the Photos library. Apple’s current support guidance places internet downloads in the Downloads folder in Files. Depending on your Safari settings, that folder can be under iCloud Drive or On My iPhone.

Immediately after a Safari download, look for the Downloads button beside the address field. Later, open Files > Browse and check Downloads. If you changed Safari’s download location, use Files search and the MP4 filename shown by your browser.

Move or copy the MP4 from Files to Photos

Files and Photos serve different purposes. Keeping the MP4 in Files is enough for offline playback and sharing. If you want the video in your Photos library, open the saved MP4 in Files, select Share, and look for Save Video.

The Share sheet changes with the file, iOS version, and installed apps. If Save Video is not present, do not repeatedly download the same file. Confirm that it is a playable MP4, keep it in Files, or open it with a compatible app. DownXVideo does not convert the file after download.

If the MP4 opens in Safari instead of saving

This usually means the result is using the source MP4. DownXVideo uses a same-site download link only when the download proxy is enabled, the size can be checked, and the file is within the 500 MiB proxy limit. A larger file, an unknown size, or an unavailable proxy keeps the source MP4 as a free fallback.

1. Wait for enough of the MP4 to load that Safari shows its video controls.
2. Use Share and choose Save to Files when that action is available.
3. If Share does not expose a save action, return to the result and long-press the MP4 link to check the current Safari menu.
4. After saving, confirm the file in Files before trying to add it to Photos.

What DownXVideo cannot fix on iPhone or iPad

• Private, deleted, or restricted posts: the parser cannot access media that is not publicly available.
• No supported MP4: an image-only post, an external player, a live stream, or media that needs stream merging is outside the current product.
• Expired media link: return to the original public post and parse it again instead of reusing an old result.
• Creator or copyright restrictions: a technically available file does not grant permission to reuse it.

Copy the correct link from X

X’s official flow is to open the post, tap the Share icon, and choose Copy link to Post. The link should lead to a post path containing /status/ followed by digits. Do not paste an account profile, a search page, copied caption text, or a private link.
