Identify whether the post fits the supported public path
Start with the complete post URL
Use an HTTPS x.com or twitter.com status URL with a numeric post ID. Profiles, search pages, copied captions, media-only links, and DM URLs are not supported inputs.
Treat public access as an anonymous parser requirement
The website must be able to request the post without your account session. A post that appears only because you are signed in, approved as a follower, or inside a private conversation is outside the supported path.
Check whether a supported MP4 exists
A public post can still return no result when it contains only images, an external player, a live stream, unavailable media, or a format that requires unsupported processing.
Do not add credentials to overcome an error
A PRIVATE_OR_UNAVAILABLE result is not a prompt to supply a password, cookie, token, or private URL. DownXVideo has no credential input and does not offer an access-control workaround.
Use the extension within the same no-bypass boundary
The extension can shorten supported workflows and, on Chromium, locally use minimal MP4 information already loaded for a playable video. It still does not read cookies, authenticate as you, unlock posts, access DMs, or promise private-media support.

“Public” means the anonymous parser can reach the post
For the DownXVideo website, a valid input is a complete HTTPS x.com or twitter.com post URL with a numeric status ID. The parser must be able to request that post without your account session, and the post must expose a supported MP4 variant.
A profile, search page, copied caption, direct-message URL, private media link, or source MP4 copied from elsewhere is not the supported input. A public page can also contain images, an external player, a live stream, or media that needs processing DownXVideo does not provide.
That is why “public post” and “downloadable MP4” are related but not identical checks.
Signed-in visibility is not the same as public access
You may be able to view a post because your account follows a protected user, meets an age or region condition, has paid access, or is part of a private conversation. DownXVideo does not reuse that account permission.
The website has no login, cookie, or token field. A PRIVATE_OR_UNAVAILABLE result is a boundary, not an invitation to provide credentials. Do not paste private links into support messages or browser tools that promise to export your session.

What the Chrome and Edge local fallback does—and does not do
The Chromium extension normally tries X syndication and then cookie-free guest GraphQL. If those anonymous paths cannot identify the clicked video, a page-local script can use minimal MP4 information already delivered for a video that is loaded and playable on the current page.
That local entry contains only the post ID, capture time, media type, duration, media ID, and direct MP4 variants needed for the selected post. It remains in page memory for up to ten minutes or until the page closes and is not sent to DownXVideo.
This does not read request headers, cookies, passwords, authentication tokens, or private messages. It does not make authenticated X requests, unlock a post, defeat a restriction, or create a supported private-post or DM workflow. Read the extension privacy disclosure for the exact browser-specific behavior.
Deleted and unavailable media cannot be recovered here
DownXVideo does not host source videos or create a download archive. If a post is deleted, the source media is removed, or a temporary MP4 URL expires, the website cannot retrieve a copy from DownXVideo storage.
An expired media link is different from a deleted post: when the original public post still works, parse that post again to request current MP4 options. When the original source is gone or restricted, stop and contact the owner if you need an authorized copy.
Technical availability does not decide reuse rights
A public MP4 result means the current product can expose a supported source file. It does not prove ownership or grant permission to repost, edit, sell, archive, or redistribute the media.
Save only videos you own, have permission to use, or are otherwise allowed to save. Public and private access labels describe the technical boundary in this guide, not a legal conclusion for every use or location.
